SMS & MMS Sender IDs
Add a Sender ID for SMS and MMS Channels
A short code/long code is a number that is used to send SMS and MMS messages. They are typically used with keywords for interactive 2-way SMS where a response is requested from the customer. The short codes and long codes are applicable to SMS and MMS channels only.
Alphanumeric sender IDs or "spoofs" can be used for branding messages. This type of sender ID is one-way only. Customers are unable to reply to these.
Limitations
- Apple handsets are unable to display sender IDs shorter than 3 characters correctly.
- Alphanumeric sender IDs should not be longer that 11 characters
- Some countries require sender IDs to be registered prior to use and some countries prohibit the use of alphanumeric sender IDs completely.
- Numbers to be used to send SMS in the USA will need to go through the 10DLC registration process with the carriers. Find out more about this process here: https://cpaas.webex.com/lp/10dlc-requests-and-support

Sender IDs with special characters:
To support clients in Canada and South America where French, Spanish and Portuguese languages need to be supported, we allow special characters when SMS / MMS Sender-IDs are created. (Campaign management >> Assets >> Sender IDs).
You can create Sender-IDs containing ‘space’ and ‘underscore ( _ )’ characters. In addition, for non-English languages, you can create Sender-IDs containing the following special characters: ‘acute accent’, ‘grave accent’, ‘circumflex accent’, ‘tilde’ and ‘cedilla’. These special characters will be supported in both upper case and lower case.
Although such Sender-IDs can be created within Webex Campaign, ultimately these Sender-IDs also need to be allowed by the specific SMS / MMS message gateway being used within your tenant and in turn, the mobile operators within your country. This validation cannot be done by Webex Campaign when you are creating the Sender-ID on the above screen. Please contact the Webex CPaaS Support team to confirm that these Sender-IDs are indeed supported by the mobile operators within your country.
